EVRA IN PASSIONATE SUPER LEAGUE APPEAL
Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has made a passionate appeal to the public on the controversial European Super League via his official Twitter handle. The Frenchman believes that the battle is not won as regards the Super League as he hit out at those behind the creation of the closed competition.
Ex-AS Monaco and Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra doesn’t trust the football officials as they have failed to show the same passion against racism since there’s no money involved. He thereafter called on football fans and the public in general to show the same passion witnessed in the fight against the Super League in the matters of racism and saving the environment.
The European Super League has collapsed for now after the six English clubs involved pulled out earlier this week. In addition to those six English clubs, the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan have also pulled out of the competition.
The Super League was announced on Sunday and it rocked the footballing world. The announcement left football stakeholders like the fans, managers and administrators stunned.
A lot of the Super League clubs were forced to pull out of the competition due to the backlash and criticisms those involved received from the fans.
The six English clubs involved in the Super League include Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and the London trio of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea. AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan are the three Italian clubs involved in the Super League, while Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are the Spanish La Liga teams part of the project.
