The Ex captain of France is a free agent now after he left the Hammers few weeks ago. Al Faisaly from Saudi Arabia is in touch with Evra and offered a contract to him. Although Evra is yet to respond, but the 37 year old is quite interested to set his career in Europe. He is not taking up pre-season with any of the clubs at the moment.
Recently, Evra gave some great piece of advice to Cristiano Ronaldo with regards to his movement to Series A Giants Juventus. As per several reports, the 33 year old has been linked with a €100 million deal with the Old Lady and deal may be confirmed within a few days. Switzerland national team manager Vladimir Petkovic says that he is confident that his team will be able to get something from the match against England in the first Euro 2016 qualifying match. This is the first competitive match for the new manager and he will be having a tough job on his hands following Switzerland’s excellent World Cup 2014. The Europeans came close to beating an Argentina team in the last 16 of the tournament only to be beaten by a late goal. Since then, expectations of Switzerland have risen immensely and Petkovic is hoping to meet those expectations.
While Switzerland have been on the way the world rankings published by FIFA, England have been on the way down in the last few years. A disastrous World Cup 2014 in which they failed even get past the group stages have seen England slip to their lowest ranking. This poor form coupled with several key players like Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard retiring in the last few months places a lot of stress upon England manager Roy Hodgson. Petkovic says that he is hoping to take advantage of this uncertainty surrounding England and proving that Switzerland’s World Cup campaign was no fluke.
Compared to England, Petkovic is expected to field a young team with 11 players under 23. “I like to be the favourite in a game, but confirmation always comes on the pitch. There’s still a lot of respect for England — no fear, but lots of respect. The Swiss FA during the past 10 years have been doing very well and improved on all levels. It’s been a good quality improvement. Now we can say we’re level with the English team. England is still England — a big name in football. We will play them with all the respect we have tomorrow (Monday),” said Petkovic.
The French defender Patrice Evra opted to leave Old Trafford and join Juventus with one of the main reasons which is believes that the veteran defender decided to make this move is because of Luke Shaw who is a younger option at the left-back position for Louis van Gaal.
Even though Luke Shaw is only 19 years old, it did not stop Manchester United’s officials on paying Southampton around €30 million in order to sign the young player who is considered to be as one of the most promising stars around the world.
Having paid such a substantial amount of cash to sign Luke Shaw, it means that Patrice Evra would have to settle for a place in the sidelines of Old Trafford but Evra decided instead to make a move to a club where his chances of playing in the main are guaranteed and the experienced did not hesitate in looking around for the other options and eventually decided to join the Italian side Juventus.
Juventus has now claimed the Italian League title, Scudetto for the 3rd consecutive year but Patrice Evra is hoping that he can help his new club on winning it for another successive instance as the Frenchman went on talking about some of his goals now that he joined Juventus and displayed emotions ash he said just how tough it was for him to leave Manchester United.
Patrice Evra said: “It was very difficult to leave Man United because it was like my second family. But as soon as I knew there was interest from Juve, I knew it would be a new challenge for me because I have to repay the faith they showed in me. I have to show more as a Juventus player because we have to win the league four times in a row. It’s never easy to win four times in a row. I won it with Man United three times but four times is really difficult. And we have to do much better in the Champions League.”
With the Premier League reaching its last few matches of the season, some players and coaches have to decide whether to continue playing with their current club or to transfer somewhere else and this is especially true for David Moyes and a number of the players of the Premier League club.
Rio Ferdinand has been showing signs that he is just not able to keep up with the younger players and he is expected to leave the club in the summer while Nemanja Vidic has already agreed on moving to Inter Milan.
Patrice Evra still remains uncertain about what he will be doing when the season ends but his agent Federico Pastorello has hinted out the possibility of him returning to Italy and playing in the Serie A.
“Patrice has to decide what to do with his future. He is very close to United but lately things have changed a little. Could he come back to Italy? Patrice has always highly regarded Serie A and so, if he were to leave England, it could be a possibility but, at the moment, it is still too early to talk about next season.” Pastorello revealed.
Inter Milan is very active in the transfer window as they already secured Vidic from Manchester United and the Italian club expressed their desire of signing more players and Erick Thohir is expected to give a substantial budget for the head coach Walter Mazzari so he can transform Inter Milan into a club that can compete against Europe’s best.
Patrice Evra blasted a superb shot that went into the net of Manuel Neuer during Manchester United’s match against Bayern Munich and even though United still suffered a defeat, the goal displayed what the French defender is capable of doing even at his 32 years of age.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Patrice Evra with less than only a few months left on the defender’s contract, but the Frenchman refused to speak about his future after the 3-0 win over Olympiakos. Evra has been an integral part of Manchester United’s first team this season, but there have been reports since the summer that David Moyes has been looking to replace the 33-year-old with Leighton Baines from Everton. United even made an offer for the England international, which was rejected by Everton.
During this period, Evra has been linked with a return to France with Paris St Germain showing an interest in the player. United have already confirmed that Nemanja Vidic will be leaving the club at the end of the season. Rio Ferdinand is also out of contract in the summer as is Ryan Giggs. This could leave United without a number of stars, who have been an integral part of the club over the last decade. Evra said that this was not a good time to talk about his future since he wants to concentrate on his football. United came into the match after a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday.
This was one of the several setbacks faced by the club since the appointment of Moyes in the summer.
“It is not a good day to talk about my future because the most important thing is Manchester United’s future, not mine. When I put on a Manchester United shirt, I will give everything, no matter what my future is. I am not going to tell you we are going to qualify but I promise we are going to fight and the fans will be proud of us after the game. It has been a difficult season for everyone,” said Evra.
