EVRA EXPLAINS WHY VLAHOVIC CHOSE JUVENTUS
Ex-Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has disclosed the reason behind the choice of Italian giants Juventus for new signing DusanVlahovic. Juventus made a big transfer coup with the signing of Serbian international DusanVlahovic from fellow Italian Serie A club Fiorentina in a deal said to be worth around €85m. Vlahovic had a lot of suitors, but he picked Juventus. Apart from Juventus, Premier League teams such as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were also interested in his signature.
Patrice Evra talked extensively about Vlahovic and his transfer to Juventus while he was a pitch-side pundit for Amazon Prime Italia’s coverage of the Champions League. According to him, players go to clubs such as Premier League outfit Manchester United and French club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) for money before adding that in Vlahovic’s case, he chose Juventus because of the love he has for the club.
Frenchman Patrice Evra was on pitch-side alongside former Juventus teammate Claudio Marchisio and Dutchman Clarence Seedorf as Juventus prepared to take on Spanish team Villarreal.
Evra would have been disappointed with his former team after they were comprehensively beaten by the visitors thus sending them out of the Champions League. Villarreal won the game which was the second leg of their last 16 tie by finding the back of the net three times in the last quarter of the game. Gerard Moreno (penalty), Pau Torres and Dutchman Arnaut Danjuma (penalty) were on the scoresheet for the Spanish La Liga team who sealed a 4-1 aggregate win to take their place in the quarterfinals after the first leg between the two teams ended 1-1 in Spain.
For Vlahovic, he has had an immediate impact on his new team netting on his debut for Juventus. He also took less than one minute to find the back of the net on his Champions League debut during the aforementioned 1-1 draw with Villarreal in Spain.
