Patrice Evra almost made a return to Old Trafford

Patrice Evra spent 8 years performing with Manchester United and during that spell, the French player was able to lift a few major pieces of silverware including: 5 Premier League and 1 UEFA Champions League trophies just to name a few of the more well-known.


For a period of time, Evra turned into the captain of the English Premier League which shows just how much of an impact and leadership skills he had to be given the captaincy armband of a top European club.

Patrice Evra’s still hurt about his exit from Manchester United

Patrice Evra’s senior playing career has seen him joining a total of 6 different clubs which includes : Marsala, Monza, Nice, As.Monaco, Manchester United and his current club Juventus.

It was with Manchester United where he managed to make a name for himself after helping the English club in lifting 5 Premier League titles and 1 Champions League as well as a few other major pieces of silverware.

 

During his time performing in England, Patrice Evra was consistenly named as one of the top performers as he was included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year on numerous ocassions. Despite having experienced such an impressive campaign in Old Trafford, there was something which ocurred that has affected the player and it’s in relation to his exit from the Premier League club.

On May 23 of 2014, Patrice Evra was offered a one year contract extension and the French defender accepted the extension but he was released from the club sooner than initially expected.

The French defender hasnt revealed all the details concerning his exit from the club but Evra did say that it was something which he did not want to do and still continues to affect him. Read more »

Patrice Evrawants Paul Pogba to step it up

Paul Pogba continues to attract the attention of all the major clubs from around the world. In these past few weeks, there have been offers being launched for the young Frenchman in the region of €50 million and it has even increased further than that as managers want to secure the services of Pogba into their respective squads.

The 22 year old French player Paul Pogba joined Juventus back in July of 2012 and Patrice Evra believes that the youngster needs to step it up as he still hasn’t made a true impact in the Italian outfit despite having joined the club over 3 years ago.

Patrice Evra told reporters: “The younger players must understand that Juve want to win, always.”Pogba wants to be decisive and I told him that he’s not a youngster anymore and has already been at Juve for four years. He has to provide the breakthrough during difficult games.”

Pogba is only 22 years old and he is already being hailed to be the new ZinedineZidane of France and the media is building up so much which has increased the value of the player. There is no doubt that Pogba is a brilliant and promising young figure but Juventus has placed a price for him of at least €70 million. Read more »

Patrice Evra admits his feelings about leaving Manchester United

5 Premier League and 1 Champions League titles are just some of the major pieces of silverware that Patrice Evra secured during his time as a player of Manchester United after spending 8 years with the English club.

 

Patrice Evra was reaching an age where it was just too much for the Premier League outfit and Louis van Gaal wanted to replace the French defender with some younger figures, which is why Evra was offloaded to Juventus for a bargain price of €1.2 million in a transfer that was completed on July 21st of 2014.

 

So far it has been a successful transfer for Patrice Evra as the French defender has turned into a regular starter for MassimilianoAllegri at Juventus. During his debut season with the Italian club, Evra made 21 appearances and was also featured in the Champions League matches of his new club.

 

Even though Patrice Evra still continues playing at a high level with Juventus and has lifted more pieces of silverware to his closet, the experienced defender has admitted in saying that making a switch away from Old Trafford was not an easy one and he believes that leaving a club with the caliber like Manchester United, it’s always a wrong decision to make. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been banned for four matches

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been banned for four matches after his comments appeared to insult French football.

The 33-year-old striker seemed to be extremely upset with the referee’s poor performance when Paris St Germain played against Bordeaux recently. He branded France as a country not worthy of playing top-level football by using derogatory terms. This cost a huge uproar in France and the disciplinary committee of the league has found the player guilty of trying to tarnish the reputation of the league. He has been given a four match ban, which will be a major blow to PSG’s hopes of retaining the league title.

The Swedish striker is one of the important players at the club. In his absence, Laurent Blanc will have to utilise Edinson Cavani as the striker but the Uruguayan has not scored the goals that have been required to keep PSG at the top of the table. Despite the season coming to a close with only a couple of weekends remaining, the French league is extremely close when it comes to the battle for the title. The top three teams are separated by only four points with PSG having recently taken control of the table with a narrow one-point advantage over Lyon. Read more »
